Free yourself from hair hassle on holiday!

Believe me, I do know what it is like.  You've got the tickets, the clothes, the make-up and the sunblock.  You are totally holiday set, and sooooo looking forward to your holiday in the sun.  But there is just one worry, one thing that will prey on your mind and your fear is that it will spoil your fun in the sea.  It's your hair, isn't it?  I know exactly.  It is not just the salt, it's the wet!  It will totally undo your hair and you will either have to ignore it and go round with a nightmare frizz or you will be straightening it between each and every dip just to keep it reasonable for the evening.  I know,  I have had every type of holiday spoilt because of my hair troubles.  Holidays in the sun - Italy, Spain, France & Greece and holidays in the rain too, camping in Devon & Cornwall,  Wales & Scotland,  always the same result, wet hair equals wrecked hair.
Ever thought of setting yourself totally free from all that?  I did, about 5 years ago and I haven't looked back.  I wear wigs nearly all the time because it gives me the hairstyle I want without the hassle.   I will wear a single wig for 3 months and then it will be just about knackered so I keep it for swimming.   Wear an old wig for swimming.  It's fine, I promise.  It does not float off or any other horror like that.  If you are unsure, simply wear goggles and they will keep it in place.  I could of course swim without a wig, just my own short hair but I am now so used to wearing a wig and feel so much more comfortable with a wig rather than without, that I prefer to swim in a wig.  I guess one of the reasons for this is the apres swim.  I really love to be able to sit on the beach and just let my hair (wig) drip dry as if it was my own hair.  To me it feels very liberating, like getting soaking wet in a storm and the wig just drying in the perfect style without ever moving from your head.  After a life time of battling wavy freaky hair, it is just great!

The overwhelming majority of women and girls want straight hair.   Every now and then, the fashion pundits tell us that curls and waves are back but it is like skinny is out - not!  It just never happens.  Most women want sleek straight hair that stays looking good whatever the weather and whatever they are doing!

If you, like me,  just dont have that obliging hair,  go choose a great wig that, wearing it all day every day,  will last you at least 3 months!  www.wearmyhair.com

Wear a wig for style & comfort

Many of my customers wear wigs for style.  Like me, they do not like their own hair for whatever reason.  In my case, my hair is wavy and very, very thick and it sits on my head like a hedge!  Not a good look! I used to spend a fortune going to the hairdressers getting it cut, styled and blow-dried.  It was all a waste of time and money and I used to feel so depressed as I left, having spent time and money and knowing that as soon as I was home, I would wash it all out and start again.  In the end, the only style that I was reasonably happy with, was really short, urchin style, and spiked with Black & White's wax.

It was years later, and a new relationship, that I read about the Japanese Yuko straightening method being pioneered in London.  So I went, hotfoot, to Toni & Guy in Golders Green and emerged, 3 hours later, and £300 poorer with lovely straight hairThe lovely straight hair lasted about 3 months and was good while it lasted.  I didn't need to use any straighteners or anything and it stayed straight in rain and drizzle so I was happy.  When it did start to wave again as it grew, I confidently made another appointment for the procedure to be repeated, but this time, after the first 5 minutes, I got the trainees and everything changed.  They even burnt my head.  I never went back again.

Eventually, I realised that it would be far less hassle and cost to wear a wig.  I have done so now for about 5 years and have no intention of going down the salon route again, no matter what they promise.  A wig is cheaper, more versatile and best of all, you just take it off and put it on at your own choosing!   Picture above, me, wearing Mary May !  Picture below, Mary May as on website.

women wear wigs for fun!

More and more women, white women as well as black, wear wigs now for fun.  It is seen increasingly as just another way to accessorise your look and re-vamp your style.  What better way!  After all, nobody wears the same make-up with every outfit so why have the same hairstyle.  Wearing a wig is great fun.  It is much better value than visiting the salon, which more often than not, only lasts until the next hair wash and a wig has the advantage that you can wear it when you want to and put it away when you dont want to!  It could not be more flexible.

You can change your hair colour and style simply by wearing a wig!  The wig I am wearing now is Mary May and I have worn it everyday, all day for 3 months and it is still fine.  I have washed it once a week, every week and it still looks perfect.  For £75 I think that is very good value.  Here is a picture of it!

A happy customer with her new wig!

A lady rang up in a bit of a panic as having just started chemotherapy, her hair was falling out in clumps and much faster than she anticipated.  She urgently needed to have a wig for a fun day at the races which she didn't want spoilt by feeling self-conscious.  She bought her wig from our site www.wearmyhair.com/short-wigs and it arrived the following day with free postage!  This is the message she sent me

"Hello Its Jayne from Bradford, I received the Nikki wig today and I just want to say a big, big thank you for your speedy delivery.  I love the wig and it will make a huge difference to what will be hard months ahead.  I will certainly recommend you.  Many thanks Jayne xx"

And, this is the short wig she bought!  Nikki in colour FR8T

Wigs for events and special occasions

I just sold another two wigs,  one womens wig, and one mens wig for a Fawlty Towers night at a local pub.  So the wigs, both short wigs were ideal to create the Basil and Sybil characters!  This is a fine example of an occasion where you need a wig that is a good quality wig without breaking the bank.  These two really fit the bill though they will both be trimmed and styled to match the iconic duo!

New colours for wigs!

I have been wearing a gorgeous red wig with red streaks in it for several weeks now.  It is such a lovely colour and more and more, I am noticing that other women are swanning around with really red hair.  I dont mean red as in auburn, a colour I really do not like.  I mean red as in ginger.  The old stereotype of "carrot tops"  is so not that.  This is just a lovely ginger colour that looks warm, not brassy as I remember school kids with crinkly ginger hair and masses of freckles at school.  I now have this wig in a small size cap so it fits me brilliantly!

More sales of mens wigs!

I seem to have hit the spot with my range of mens wigs.  They sell very well and it seems that the colours and styles are all well received.  I have seen mens wigs which are really tapered into the neck and around the ears but then that leaves no room for style modifications when wanted.

GQ magazine rang again today.  Unfortunately, their adverts are way too expensive for me at the moment, and besides,  it does seem as if when a man decides to buy a wig, he will find us.  I would really love to have a totally unisex wig shop but that is still a long way off.

Just sold this one! www.wearmyhair.com/mens-wigs

Wayne Rooney sparks loads of interest in Mens Wigs! BBC Radio interview with Wear my Hair.com

Just been interviewed live on Breakfast Show, BBC Radio Cambridge to talk about mens wigs and my business, .  This is in direct response to the Wayne Rooney hair transplant story!  And, today we here that Ryan Giggs is also planning something similar.  Go boys, says I!  Is it about male vanity I was asked.  I replied that vanity, or concern over appearance has for far too long be presumed to be the prerogative of women & girls only.  This is completely bad.  We all, and I mean all, care deeply about our appearance.  It informs our sense of self,  of who we are and how we feel with fit in our world.

Above all, I feel that life is not only short, it is for many people incredibly tough and cruel in so many ways and usually beyond our control, that where we are able to make any change that makes us feel better - we just should.  I'm so all for happiness - "Be who you want to be today and wake up yourself again tomorrow"!

short, straight wigs for women

Some new short wigs with streaks!  Ladies, these wigs are just fun!  A lovely wig light blonde colour with streaks.  It is not only older ladies who prefer short hair.  It depends on many things, such as,  height, size and shape of head and face, texture of hair, all sorts of things, but many women are now choosing short wigsShort straight bobs are well in fashion as the Big Hair look wanes in popularity.  To liven up a simple little bob, add streaks - see here!

New stuff planned for wear my hair

I am planning a new accessories page for www.wearmyhair.com. It is intended to advance the offer from this website into fashion accessories. So many people comment favourably about my hair and the way I accessorise it that it feels appropriate to develop this further. The idea is to make, buy and sell stuff that is appropriate and relevant to the wearmyhair philosophy of "Be who you want to be today, and wake up yourself again tomorrow"!

The new page will compliment the videos but not compromise them. It will not be the same. I will take stills of me and the mannequins wearing accessorised products to show the full potential and overall effect of wearing a wig to improve or simply change how you look. Here is a picture of the wig I am wearing - Mary May with ribbons!

women wear wigs for fun!

More and more women are wearing wigs for fun. This is in part due to the fact that wigs are so good these days, and pound for pound, synthetic wigs, hairpieces & extensions often make a much better deal that shelling out the same amount of money on a trip to the salon where the "do" will only last till the next wash often enough! Whether it's a wig or a hairpiece it can transform your look in an instant and give you shed loads of confidence you never had before!

It never ceases to amaze me, how many people just put up with hair they don't like. Their own hair maybe, but where is the value in daylight hours if you hate it? Is it not better to feel and look good with hair that will do as it's told whatever the weather and stay that way leaving you free to enjoy everything else in your day or evening. And when you are done with the day and evening, you simply take it off, pop it into it's bag and go back to being yourself again until the next time you want to wear it!

Todays wigs & hairpieces are well made and breatheable so they do not feel hot. It's a no brainer really - go get yours - www.wearmyhair.com

Wigs for women, the London Look!

Another new customer just bought the long wig, Charlotte. She said it looked funky and fun - The London Look is how she described it. She was a very sweet and pretty girl who was wearing a very knackered old wig that was well past its sell-buy date! It was a first for me as she said that she had made the wig herself from bought extensions - very clever!

She was worried about how long the wig will last and I reassurred her that it will last about 12 weeks if she takes care of it. It is a long tapered wig and the long length makes it more vulnerable to damage if constantly brushed and combed. I am currently wearing Mary May which is a short wig but I really only brush it when I wash it and I have been wearing it solidly for 3 months!

short straight bobs are back in fashion!

A feature on short straight bob hairstyles is in this week's Sunday Times Style magazine - page 33, Your Style Beauty News. The picture shown looks exactly like our wig Grace in stock www.wearmyhair.com/medium-length-wigs. I am not surprised as I have found myself going shorter and shorter and very straight. And red! A mix of colours from my new supplier gives me a great red that is light and bright but more than strawberry blonde and yet much lighter than the auburn shades.

I have added some streaks too. This time, the wig is streaked with colour ref: FR350 which is a deep red and it looks gorgeous!

I am about to order some more short wigs and will have this wig style and colour but with pink streaks as that too, will look highly dramatic and fun. I am also going to order the very long wig "Britney" in this colour red.

short, straight wigs for women

At www.wearmyhair.com we are paying more attention to short styles right now. It is always assumed that anyone young (ish) will want to have long hair, even if a wig, and this is just not true. Many women and girls find that short hair suits them better. This may be just down to the shape and size of their face, or, it may be lifestyle and work factors too. Busy mums and workers in the food industry where keeping hair out of the way is important, to mention just two! So we are now bringing on a range of short wigs and medium length wigs to help balance the range. We have also just got in a medium-length wig with a side parting that looks really good.

The colour red which is bold but not dark has been achieved by blending two colours and it really is a fabulous colour. Redder than strawberry blonde but lighter than auburn, it is warm and sunny. I am wearing it myself right now and I love it.

Mens wigs, grey wigs for men! Straight, transexual & transvestite, it is not an issue

Funnily enough, we sell more mens wigs from the website www.wearmyhair.com/mens-wigs than any others. Men do not generally come for the free consultation, they prefer to sort it out for themselves in the privacy of their own homes. Understandable, many men are less than sympathetic with the idea of hair-loss being a major issue within their gender. They are wrong. Apart from the fact that it is an entirely personal issue and decision, we all have different hang-ups about the bits of us that we don't like, and it is not right for anyone to pass judgement.

It's funny, as a society, we have made huge strides against so many predjudices, and yet the simple, uncomplicated ones that don't involve race, colour, religion or the other contentious issues, seem the hardest and most entrenched. At www.wearmyhair.com we are totally there for everyone wanting our help whatever their personal choices. We get a few transexual and transvestites who come to the house and who just buy direct from the website. I am happy to say that they feel comfortable enough to tell us and talk to us about the kind of hair they want and how we can help. They have a great range of womens wigs to choose from.

Increasingly too, we get older men who maybe have started dating again after divorce or bereavement, who decide that to boost their confidence, they will wear a wig. If they were already grey, they will often choose a grey wig. We have two shades of grey, the light grey and a salt & pepper darker grey.

I am happily married to a man who lost most of his hair by the age of 30 and his baldness has never fazed either of us. But if it did faze him, I would be totally ok about him wearing a wig. I simply believe that life is too short and a bitch anyway, so that whatever we can all do to make it easier and more enjoyable, and providing it does not hurt anyone else, then go for it.

Not for nothing is our slogan, " Be who you want to be today & wake up yourself again tomorrow"!

Discussions around hair on Hubpages

Yesterday I signed up to Hubpages and have written 2 hubs so far. It seems a very good format to discuss issues around hair - synthetic or human. As a website selling wigs, www.wearmyhair.com is keen to dispel any myths about synthetic hair being less good than human hair just because it is cheaper! There are advantages and disadvantages with both. On the plus side with synthetic hair is, of course, the price. But that is not all. For many people, the whole idea of wearing wigs is to have more hairstyles, colours, lengths and so on to play with! That whole "getting ready" to go out for the night, clubbing, on a date, or just a girlie night, is such a great opportunity to make the absolute best of what you have. It doen't matter a toss if it is real or not -hey, if I break a fingernail, I so do not wait for it to grow back, I put on a falsie! With implants, semi-permanent make-up, false eyelashes and everything else, whether it is real or not, just does not come into it.

It is about feeling the best you can. For many people, myself included, wearing a wig is infinitely better than putting up with my own hair. I have done the whole lot - straightening, dyeing, salon straightening and the Yuko method! That was expensive and some. The first time I had it done it was good. Cost about £300 but it stayed straight for about 3 months. The second and third time though, the salon used trainees and it was not good, not worth the money, they burnt my head and I never went back again.

I could wear real human hair wigs if I wanted to but I have seriously never felt the need. Ok, you cannot dye a synthetic wig and they do not last as long. But for my money, I would rather have a range of different synthetic wigs that I can wear according to my mood, outfit, make-up, occasion or whatever, than one very expensive wig that will most definitely damage with treatments such as dyeing, using blow-dryers and tongs etc. A reasonable human hair wig will cost upwards of £300 and many cost much more. Not me, I will stick to the synthetic wigs and have my money's worth every time!

All new short wigs now on site

All the new pictures are now on the site. We are trying out a new format and if it is effective, we will roll it out to other images. It is an animated Gif that rotates to display the wigs from 360 degrees. It is really cool but sometimes such devices can be irritating so we want to keep the static images also.

buy wigs!

Womens Wigs.

If you want to buy a wig because you have a medical need such as alopecia, cancer or leukaemia, you can read about that by clicking on the medicalwigs link. Or, you can just go to the product pages of long wigs, medium length wigs, short wigs and buy a wig“Be who you want to be today and wake up yourself again tomorrow”!

Our slogan and the message is, you do not have to put up with the hair you were born with, if you happen not to like it. Whatever your hair issues – curly, frizzy, too thin, too thick, if you dislike it, you can change your hairstyle in an instant by wearing a wig from www.wearmyhair.com.

All this applies to everyone, women, , girls, black, white, whatever, we have wigs for you! At www.wearmyhair.com we have a good selection of womens wigs, most of which are suitable for older girls and childrens wigs which are ideal for very young girls. We have customers, women and girls of all ages, but all of them share the same central issue, they are not content with their own hair. It may be that your hair is naturally very fine or thin and that extensions do not work too well, breaking your hair because of the added weight. For many women, the best solution is to wear a wig. It is a put it on and take it off solution. No hassle, no mess, no trip to the hair salon necessary. Just choose your preferred wig and away you go. What is more, because of the very reasonable prices of our synthetic wigs, women and girls can afford to have more than one wig.

Now, you would not wear the same make-up or accessories with every outfit, would you? Well then, why would you have the same hairstyle either? This is it. Back to our slogan again – “be who you want to be today and wake up yourself again tomorrow”!

A story from one customer says it all. A young woman, at the time ill with cancer, her hair had fallen out and she usually wore a beanie. She took advantage of the free consultation offered by Wear My Hair, and came to see me. She said, “ I am doing this for my husband. We have been invited to a party and for once, I want him to be able to forget that I have cancer, so I’ve decided to buy a wig”. She chose Latoya, a great looking layered wig, dark brown with blonde highlights. When done with everything, she threw her beanie in my waste basket and said, “ I thought I was doing this for my husband, now I know, I am doing it for me!” Go Girl! Rock that wig!

We have long wigs, medium length wigs, short wigs, and at www.wearmyhair.com you have greater choice as you can order a bespoke wig in up to three colours!. So you can select a wig and choose a main colour and blend it with another colour and then have streaks in yet another colour!. That option does have to be ordered for you and will take 15-30 days. Alternatively, all the wigs shown on the website are available from stock in the colours shown. There are plenty of wigs in a vast range of colours that you can just buy from stock and have delivered NEXT DAY! And you get a free She-bag or She-she bag to store it in with every order of £55 or more!

better wig images coming soon!

For the best glamour looks wearing wigs and hairpieces and extensions, we are going to make some exciting new changes to the website pages and displays!

Some major changes are afoot. Unfortunately, the live model images of our women's wigs have not really worked too well in terms of sales. The reason for this is I think that we were unable to choose specifically suitable models for the wig styles, lengths and colours. Also, the photographer concentrated on making glamour shots of the models instead of making glamour shots of the wigs.
Bold The hair is not best displayed or photographed, and we are about to change that. We will keep the live models wearing wigs in a gallery where they can still be viewed, but in order to retain complete control of the wig styles, colours and glamour effects of wearing wigs, we will use mannequins again. We are going to photograph them all again to make better shots and the wig images on the main category pages for women's wigs, long wigs, medium length wigs will be bigger. They will rotate giving a great experience of viewing almost as you would turn around using a mirror yourself in fact. You will still be able to see and return to all the static shots, but we feel we are not doing justice to our fabulous range of products so a change is needed.

more wig sales for fashion

I am thinking that 2011 is going to be the best year for wearmyhair. More and more people are starting to wear wigs for fashion on a daily or several times a week basis. Wigs are ideal for just having a change. It is far less dramatic and devastating to decide you dont like a style or colour on you if you are talking about a wig rather than a lasting change you have made to your own hair.

Wearing wigs gives you the best of both worlds - you get a new hairstyle without the drama and cost of going to the hairdresser and having something done which you might regret and worse - you have paid a small fortune for. So for all those moments when you just want something really different go to www.wearmyhair.com and chose a wig or hairpiece to wear when the mood takes you!
