Getting ready for New Year's Eve!

I certainly am! Going to wear the coloured extensions showed in my last blog and probably more! These have a little comb as well as the clip for fixing so that they work extremely well on a wig. The comb spikes into the weft and helps hold the extension in place and the clip fixes it.

I only used 4 in this picture but I might well use more on Thursday and might even try to plait them or some how make them look extra glam. I will post pickies of course as soon as I have got over my hangover! Thinking of it - better at lease take the pickies before I go out - could be a bit of a disaster otherwise!

Accessorize junkie

That's me ok, I just love accessorizing my looks with wigs and extensions.

I have just finished reading Jade Goody's autobiography, "Fighting to the end". It was very enjoyable and I feel, as I have always felt, a deep admiration for her honesty and courage. I think if anyone got "the heavy load". as opposed to the "silver spoon", she did. I mention it here as there are photos of her and quotes saying how she loved wearing wigs to change her style in an instant.

Here I am again, this time, and it's the day after Boxing Day, wearing a much trimmed "Megan" with a ribbon at the back. I just love it.

Hair extensions to party in

New now! Wonderful colours of hair extensions to buy on line from www.wearmyhair.com. Just look at these! They are 24" long single clip-in extensions that have simply been clipped into my wig and looped back and over each side and held with a feather clip bought from Accessorize!

I didn't want to cut them and then only have them short, so looping them over my head made a good way to use them to effect without changing them forever. I was so pleased with this effect, I went off to a party in them!

Children's wigs

Children's wigs are now in stock! We have a very short style which can be for a boy or girl. We have a girl's long style and we have a girl's short style which is chin length. They are very sweet and though we only bought a light blonde colour, on the basis that most children in the UK seem to have blonde hair, any other colours can be ordered.

Here they are; any comments welcome!

pictures of new wigs and hair extensions

The pictures of the children's wigs will not be available for a few days as I have to paint the new mannequins to display them on. However, if you haven't followed the links on my last post to the site, and I dont blame you as I messed that all up with the wrong code and had to do another post to correct it, here are the pictures now!
Go to the site to view all the pictures- long wigs under women's wigs and all the wacky colours in hair extensions. These are just a sample.

Establishing charity links

Wear my Hair is developing into 2 distinct markets - one is fashion- wigs, hairpieces & extensions for those who dont like their own hair or just want a change of style or to experiment with styles and colours. Two is for those with medical needs - cancer or alopecia that causes hairloss as a side effect of chemotherapy.

I am trying to assist a number of cancer care organisations through fundraising, link exchange and other support. I have recently posted the ACT, Addenbrookes Charitable Trust widget on each of my site's pages that deals with hair loss issues. So, it is on the medical needs page, the men's wigs page and the children's wigs page. The widget enables donations and I hope will be successful.

I would be very willing to donate from every wig sale at all the trade shows but there just isn't any appropriate events. They are all Art and Crafts and what my products need is Fashion and Beauty Fairs. I do Wedding Fairs and I can certainly implement a donation from wig sales there, but I only attend two per year as they have got very expensive and again, are not entirely appropriate for my market.

I actually think fashion and beauty shows would be a huge success - girls and women are mad about everything to do with fashion and beauty - think Claire's Accessories and Accessorize!

I know a company that stages loads of arts and craft fairs so I will suggest it to them and hope for a positive response!

The rationale behind our wig purchase policy

Recently, I have been asked why I do not stock human hair wigs, hairpieces and extensions? My business really caters for two markets, one is fashion. Those who choose to wear the products for accessorising their look or because they do not like their own hair.

The other market is for those who through illness or stress are loosing or have lost their hair. They might feel that they have no choice but to wear a wig or a hairpiece. This market has within it, men, women and boys and girls and all of them will have their own specific experience about their illness and its consequences. But, having had a sister who suffered all of this through cancer, I felt that synthetic wigs are better for this group in that they are a relatively cheap solution to a temporary problem. The patient will get better and their own hair will grow back again and so why spend a fortune on a human hair wig!

It is surely better to promote the shorter life of a synthetic wig in these circumstances than a very expensive long-life human hair product that does nothing to encourage the patient to feel positive towards the future.

funky coloured Hair Extensions on their way

They have been manufactured and are being shipped now - Funky colours and nine of them in 24inch hair extensions. Pink, purple, blue, electric blue, silver, green, orange, red and yellow, will that do for starters!? I think so! Also, the long awaited children's wigs and mannequins are in this shipment and should be in the UK within the next week.

Let's hope they dont get held up in Customs or any strikes! New very long black and blonde wigs are also part of this order and as soon as they arrive we will start the photography to swop most of the mannequins on the product pages for real live models and revamp the site with a whole new simplified colour chart.

Wednesday also sees the start of the video editing process so we expect to have the video clips published by the end of this week. It should have been earlier, but other stuff got in the way.

Keep watching and following!

Tuesday 3 November 2009

New colours for wigs

As we speak, new colour swatches are being photographed for the website to enable some really funky colours for wigs, hairpieces & extensions. The whole colour chart is being upgraded to simplify it but without reducing the colour range in any way.

By early next week, you could be able to order your wig, hairpiece or extensions in some really neon colours including electric blue, purple, green, bright pink etc. The colours will be available across all products and will, I hope, zing up our offer and create more sales.

Also, there are some more products on order, including a fabulous long wig in black, and another long blonde wig
blonde hairpiece & children's wigs.
As soon as the long wigs & hairpieces have arrived we will be putting together the photo shoot to have real live models on the website!

Website changes

I have made some important changes to the website www.wearmyhair.com as it happened this week that I got an order through the post. The order was for a wig, but enclosed was a postal order covering the cost of the wig and postage. It alerted me to the fact that some people, under 18s for instance, do not have cheque books, credit cards or paypal accounts and that provision for anyone who does not have these or prefers not to use these, needed to be made.

With this in mind, a "how to order" page has now been created advising this category that postal orders are fine but need to be made payable to Wear my Hair/ Joanna Holding. This information is linked from the homepage by the sentence "If you do not have a credit card or cheque book?". I think this is adequate.

wig photo shoot!

I am feeling now that my stock of wigs, hairpieces & extensions is large enough, and covers enough wants and wishes to start upgrading the site www.wearmyhair.com with photographs of live models rather than mannequins. The mannequins have been great and will continue to be used, especially for the men's wigs, children's wigs and as an accessory for salons and individuals. But with proper professionally shot pictures, the modelled wigs & hairpieces will demonstrate their true glamour.

So far, I have found 4 girls willing to spend an evening modelling the wigs for which they will all be given a really beautiful free photo of themselves. One of the girls is black and I do hope to find another, so that we can demonstrate that www.wearmyhair.com
has gorgeous products for everyone.

Children's wigs & mannequins are on order and soon they will be on the site. This, like men's wigs is something of a minimal demand at the moment, but that could well be due to the fact that there has been very little in the way of wigs for them. We aim to change all that but shortage of funds demands that we increase stock only in line with demand as far as is possible.

Chemo chic with or without a wig!

What a great theme this is. Found it in The Times today and feel very humbled by Jessica's bravery. My sister died of breast cancer eight years ago and that is part of the reason I set up www.wearmyhair.com. One of the problems Annette had was the hideous wig the NHS provided.

At such a difficult time, it must be up to every individual whether they choose to wear a wig, wear nothing, as did Jade much of the time, or wear any or all of the gorgeous and glam scarves and turbans available. At wear my hair, I am trying to help those who prefer to wear a wig, by providing a good range of wigs for £65 as a rule, but also the option to custom choose and have a bespoke wig delivered in 2-3 weeks only! I buy direct from the manufacturers so there is no middle man and I offer men's wigs, women's wigs & children's wigs, as well as hairpieces & extensions.

In recent posts I have been encouraging those who do wear wigs, to glam them up, as if they needed it, with ribbons, clips and all sorts. It all adds to the fun and whether it is cancer or alopecia, or any other reason, boosted fun and a greater sense of recovery is all important through difficult times.

Accessorize your wig revisited!

Hi again, been having loads of fun with ribbons recently. Wearing a new wig, a little short wig called Grace, I decided, again because the front bits tend to get in my face, to tie them back with little thin ribbons. It really is great to wear a wig and accessorize it. It makes any and all wigs & hairpieces look exactly like real hair as putting things in hair is part of make-up and jewellery in a way.

If you buy a really long wig, you can carry off the most excellent up-do as you simply leave the back of it hanging fairly low so that the weft remains hidden under the hair. I will show you that wig trick another time. Here's some pickies in case you want to try it yourself!

A curly wig for a change!

Yes, I break the habit of a lifetime in this business but I have to concede that there really are people out there that actually want curly hair. Actually, this wig, named Cassie, is available because a customer had a specific request and so I got it for her.

Generally speaking, we are in the business of straight hair, straight hair wigs as just about the entire world is straightening their hair of even the slightest flick or wave. It seems almost every year that the fashion pundits tell us that curly hair is back in fashion, but no-one takes any notice and the curly extravaganzas remain confined to the glossy mags and centrefolds.

Anyway, who knows, maybe we will be deluged with orders for curly wigs from now on!

Selling wigs at the Chilford Hall Wedding Fair!

Yesterday was a great day at Chilford Hall (Linton Cambs.) Wedding Fair. It is the third one that we, www.wearmyhair.com have exhibited our wigs, hairpieces & extensions at. There was a real buzz and I had nine mannequins and nine wigs displayed on them which caused a lot of excitement. Also on display I had two extra wigs just on the table so that the visitors could pick them up and look and feel them. I also had hairpieces & extensions pinned up high on my display board and bags too.

I sold a number of wigs and two hairpieces and my last customer of the day was actually the owner of the venue so that was an extra thrill. She was a 'middle youther' as they say and she was delighted to find a little short wig in a nice choppy style which looked totally natural on her.

Loads of girls and women were trying on the wigs and I encourage this as it enables me to fully put across the accessorizing mantra that I have for them. "you wouldn't wear the same make up and nail varnish with every outfit, so why wear the same hair"? Then they really do get the idea that it is simply fun to have different hairstyles for different occasions.

It was a great day. The next one is in February 2010! Here is my stand at the fair.

Exciting changes to website and wig colour options!

The next thing is going to be extending our range of wig colours. Apart from pink and gold, we have been rather conservative in the colour options available for people to choose for their wigs & hairpieces. We just have to get the additional colours - electric blue, purple, silver, orange, green etc, photographed and then we can put them on the site. It will probably mean removing some of the existing colours where they are too similar to another more popular colour, but it will be a good move, I think. One more thing, you can order these new colours already, so call me if you are looking for a funky colours wig! m: 07810 872 034.

We have been specifically asked for some of these colours as the trend in hair accessories grows. It's exciting and we want to be right there for the action!

Another thing to mention here is that Wear my Hair will be exhibiting at the Chilford Hall Wedding Fair on Sunday 4 October, so if you are in the Cambridge region, get yourself over there for an excellent day out! Chilford Hall is in Linton, CB21 4LE.

Women's wigs re-organised!

Women's wigs have been re-organised on the website www.wearmyhair.com so that they are in subcategories of long, medium length & short wigs. This should make it easier and quicker to navigate around to find what you want.

Children's wigs have also been added to the site but at present they are only available to order. Looking for child head and shoulders mannequins to buy so that I can paint them and have them as my models when I buy in stock.

The homepage layout has changed a little in that the main categories , women's wigs, children's wigs, men's wigs, accessories & hair extensions have been shortened so that they fit better on the main navigation bar. Also, accessories includes all accessories, bags & mannequins. Hair extensions includes Hair pieces. I think it is tidier and gift vouchers have moved to the top navigation bar as they are not of primary interest to most visitors.

Please post your views here or comment on www.twitter.com/wearmyhair

New wig- short and curly

Another new wig has just arrived. This time, short and curly. I think this style will be popular as it is so easy to manage. The wig has a special very soft cap and so that makes it especially good for anyone with medical needs such as cancer and alopecia.

I am in the process of dividing the women's wigs into long wigs, medium length wigs, and short wigs as this will make the site easier to navigate. I will then look to improve the main category headings to make them more relevant to the content.

Gotta have straight hair ! Wigs, hairpieces & extensions!

Breakfast tv yesterday at 8.20. A short feature about how black women achieve a straight hair look by wearing wigs, hairpieces & extensions!

Ever noticed that you really only ever see the classic afro look on the little kiddies nowadays? Yep! everyone gotta get straight hair! Some black girls straighten their hair with relaxer formulations which can burn their skin and though it relaxes the tight curl of their natural barnet, it does not give the sleek, smooth Naomi Campbell or Mica Paris look.

This is how www.wearmyhair.com can help.

We import and sell at brilliant prices, straight hair wigs, hairpieces & extensions, and we are trying to get across the message that just like black girls, white girls too can have the hair they want! There is no need to angst over your own hair if you dont like it or it wont style how you want it.

Do what I do - wear a wig and regard it as just another fashion accessory! Furthermore, at £65 average, it's cheaper than going to a hair salon and you can wear it as often or as little as you like.

You can buy wigs, hairpieces & extensions from www.wearmyhair.com and begin the next day of the rest of your life! You can also get accessories, hair care products, cute little bags for travelling wigs, hairpieces and extensions - special velcro closure does not snag the hair!
You can also get a hand-painted mannequin for putting your wig on to style it if you want! Some people find this helpful if they want to trim the wig or add accessories such as ribbons, clips or a corsage.

Ooooooooh isn't it all just such fun! Picture - me again with wig and ribbon!

Children's wigs

Children's wigs are going to be the next addition to my portfolio! There is a demand out there for really nice and comfortable wigs for children. Children with cancer or any other hairloss condition, need wigs that are manufactured for them from start to finish so that they look and feel comfortable and realistic.

I have sourced some nice ones that should work well as a starting point for girls wigs and boys wigs. The most important thing is the cap size. Though they are all adjustable, the cap size needs to fit comfortably above the ears and in the nape of the neck. Here are some pictures of a few styles that I will be offering.

Find wigs, pieces & extensions more easily

Want to find a wig, hairpiece, extensions more easily and quickly - well I hope my day's work will help you with that.

I have spent the day going through the site making sure that all colour references and descriptions of wigs, hairpieces & extensions are consistent and accurate throughout the site. I have also added to each women's wigs & men's wigs page the size and adjusting method so that customers can be assured that the products will fit ok.

This important information was certainly in the text but not on the actual buying pages which was a silly oversight of mine! Another improvement is that I have grouped together wigs, men's & women's roughly by length or other unifying characteristic like background colour. I hope that this will make the site look more congruent and tidy.

Perhaps the most important change though is that I added a no quibble returns committment to the home page, subject to conditions of course, but again, this was only in the t's & c's and who wants to trawl through all of that!

There is much more to come, but hopefully, that will improve the site and make it more navicable in the short term.

Another new wig style

Another slightly curly wig is on order by special request. It is shoulder length and will be available in two weeks. This wig is a blend of #18 a light brown and #28 a blonde and will be fab. For those who want something a bit more subtle than a true blonde, it is the ideal compromise and looks perfect - salon ready!

The name of this wig will be new but it is styled on Nikki. Here is a preview

home page relevance to wig adwords

Hello again, I seem to be finding lots to talk about lately. That is because I am working very hard to produce better sales of women's wigs, hairpiece & extensions & men's wigs .

I have changed the home page to be clearer with bullet points links to the various product pages. I have also highlighted the fact that our wigs, hairpieces & extensions are cheaper as we buy direct from the manufacturer, not from a middle-man wholesaler.

I also highlight the next day delivery. Do you think this is better? Would love to have a comment!

Me in a great short wig

Hi everybody! Here I am this bright and breezy Monday sporting a great little short wig that I'd like you all to see. I have customised it a bit, just trimmed the fringe and a wee bit off the front bits as it tended to flop around my mouth which was annoying.

I've taken these two pictures to show you how I have accessorise it with a ribbon. This serves two purposes; it keeps the front bits out of my face and it makes it look very attractive from the back with the ribbon. I have bought several colours of ribbon as it's fun to co-ordinate with whatever you are wearing. You like?

Tuesday 1 September 2009

Let's glam it up for the party season!

Wigs, hairpieces & extensions are so NOW! The party season starts at www.wearmyhair.com. Just changed the 3 pictures on the home page to show some long styles. We've already featured the men's wigs and the short style wigs, so let's get back to some long and sexy styles for Autumn and Winter.

There is such a lot you can do with a wig that you probably wouldn't think possible. It is really easy. Today, I am wearing a short wig with fringe, Lily, in fact, see bottom image and I have accessorized it by pulling back the front pieces, taking them to the back and tying them with a pretty ribbon. I described this in my previous blog post. You can also use hairbands, corsages, clips and flowers in the very same way that you might with your own hair.

In my next post I hope to be able to attach the video clip of this so that you too can have fun and make the most of your wigs, hairpieces & extensions.

Sunday 30 August 2009

Hair extensions

Hair extensions! I have changed the way these are displayed on the site now so that they are hanging up, not lying flat. This is obviously better as it gives an impression of the length and volume.

These clip-in single extensions are the easiest type to fix into your and can also be fitted into wigs. Within the next week I am going to be making the video demos that will show you a number of ways to enhance your hair or wig. The demos will also cover how to put on a wig, how to trim it and care for it, as well as additional ways of accessorising your wig.

Hairpieces
will also be discussed and demonstrated to show how to attach a hairpiece and how you can accessorise that too. Yesterday, I bought some lovely ribbon and use it in colours co-ordinated with what I am wearing to tie back the sides of my wig which can annoy me when flopping over my face and sticking to my lip-gloss!

I will probably take a few trial and error attempts to get the video content as good and helpful to you as possible, but hang in there, I think it will be good. I am confident about this because as someone who wears a wig practically all the time, I know what matters and what is just sales patter that you might find elsewhere.

Thursday 27 August 2009

Wigs here, wigs there!

Just linked the homepage at www.wearmyhair.com with this blog as it is much better for potential customers to follow this, with all the news of wigs, hairpieces & extensions, than twitter where the world and his mother is tweeting about nothing to do with anybodys hair.

August has not been a good month for sales but it is the holiday season at it's height and I'm hopeful that things will pick up again in September. Fingers crossed!

Another great new wig!

Just had delivery of another great wig style, well no, the style is already on the site www.wearmyhair.com in men's wigs but the colour is a great blend of 3 colours that then makes a lovely light brown.

I think that this style and colour is so good, I have also added it to women's wigs!

Finding new wig customers

Finding new wig customers is very important to me so I always carry some business cards with me wherever I go. This is a good idea, all be it obvious, for all businesses.

Last week I went to have a look at Westfield, the new(ish) shopping centre in West London. It was great and I did buy a new dress. The reason why I am telling you this is that on the Hammersmith and City underground line which I was taking, sat three women opposite me. They started chatting and one with long dark hair was asked by one of the others if she still wanted to "go back to blonde"? "Yes," she replied, "but I will probably get a wig instead of dyeing it again".

Quick as a flash, out came my cards and I gave one to each of them. They were thrilled so let's hope they become my new customers!

wigs for cancer sufferers

In today's The Times, Body + Soul section is a whole article on wearing wigs. It is by Trevor Sorbie, famous London hairdresser and it is about cutting and styling wigs for people experiencing hairloss through chemotherapy. He writes that it is a devastating experience and it is. My sister suffered it and unfortunately died from her cancer eight years ago. I have never forgotton how her awful wig from the NHS was part of the problem.

My sister's experience is one of the reasons why I started wear my hair, www.wearmyhair.com. We stock a good selection of short, medium and long wigs and also men's wigs. Though not everyone can come to the house to try on and fit their choice of wig, software is available now for simulated trying on. But, even without either of those options, and the latter will be made available to our customers as soon as possible, a wig purchase should not be daunting as they are so lifelike, adjustable to fit and easy to trim. For most people, your own local hairdresser will be able and willing to trim the wig, but if it is just the fringe that is too long, you can probably do that yourself.

Another point to bear in mind, and this in no way compromises the difficulties faced by those whose need to wear a wig is due to illness, is that plenty of people of both sexes wear wigs in preference to their own hair. This includes me. That is how good today's wigs.

Tuesday 11 August 2009

New wigs completed and on the way!

Some new men's wigs are now finished and on their way. This range is a subtle blonde blend which will look great on the guys and do equally well as a women's wig. Only because the style is quite short and layered so that makes it more a unisex style.

August is quite quiet as loads of people are on holiday and those that have not yet gone, are probably saving their money up for it. No worries. Then comes the 2nd Wedding Show season. Generally September to early December, there are lots of Wedding Fairs and the next one we will be exhibiting at is at Chilford Hall , Linton, Cambridgeshire, CB21 4LE., www.chilfordhall.co.uk on Sunday October 4th 2009. It is always a very busy and well attended show with all you need to source for your Wedding!

If you think your hair might let you down on your special day, then come along to the Chilford Hall Wedding Fair and see and try on our latest wigs, hairpieces and extensions so whatever happens, you will look your best on the day. Not just for brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride, hens and friends, bring them all along!

Sunday 2 August 2009

women's wigs, men's wigs

Just changed some of the website headings to women's wigs and men's wigs. This is to be more specific and to keep the titles matching the key words. Also, it is a bit silly, coy even, to beat about the bush with fashion wigs and guys stuff, when we are actually talking about and selling wigs. People searching for the products are going to call them by the proper name and so it makes sense to stick to that on the site too.

When all is said and done, nobody can tell if you are wearing a wig, unless, that is, it is exceptionally bad or some outlandish colour. But that is why the party wigs are now relegated to a subcategory. Most, no, almost all people buy ordinary, mainstream wigs, hairpieces & extension. They also usually choose a colour that is close to their own colour, be that natural or dyed.
So, from now on, www.wearmyhair.com will be as direct and straightforward as possible to hopefully improve and enhance all our customers shopping and visiting experience.

wigs as a lifestyle choice

Wigs can make terrific sense as a lifestyle choice for many people, particularly women who feel that their appearance is important in their job, and that this can be improved by wearing a wig.

It is so easy, so convenient and so cost effective. At www.wearmyhair.com we have many customers for whom this is exactly it. It is not only very expensive and time-consuming to go to the hairdresser every few weeks, but for most people, a new cut and style simply doesn't stay looking good for more than a few days anyway. A wig, on the otherhand, will stay looking good, exactly as you bought it, for weeks and weeks. Months even, depending on how often you wear it. It is a really good investment and because a wig is such a practical choice over and above, salons, hairpieces and extensions, many customers buy more than one in order to have different styles to suit mood, occasion or both.

My husband often complains about my huge wardrobes of clothes and shoes. And I have to agree, I do have a lot of clothes and shoes, but I live and work in a city where I feel my appearance matters. For the same reason, I too wear a wig most of the time. My natural hair is awkward. It is not curly or frizzy but it just sticks out and is so thick it sits on my head like a hedge and I hate it! On the other hand, where we are just now, holidaying in our little retreat www.norfolkcottage.co.uk my appearance is of very little concern to me. I wear outdoor clothes - jeans or "Fat Face" style clothing to suit the long country walks and pub lunches that we will indulge in. And, when on such pursuits, I couldn't care less about my hair, so I just go about 'au naturel', save a dab of make-up, which I confess I cannot do without.

But it really is 'each to her own'. I just feel that for many women, the huge confidence boost that good hair brings, makes spreading the word about wearing a wig as a solution if you don't feel you have good hair, is important as so many customers say that they wish they had discovered it sooner!

Wigs for women, another short style in 4 colours

This new style is called Bernadette and we have it now in stock in 4 lovely colours. See it now on www.wearmyhair.com.

It is a very feminine yet businesslike style for those ladies who particularly want something smart for work/business events and occasions. As with all of our styles, it can be modified in terms of trimming the fringe and the back. If you do not dare to do this yourself, any hairdresser will happily do it for you. Here is is then. For all the pictures and colours go to the website above.

Monday 27 July 2009

New Wigs now on site!

Yes, the new wigs are on the website. There are some new short womens wigs on the fashion wigs page.

There is also another colour for all four mens wigs styles on the Guys Stuff pages.

Go look now www.wearmyhair.com

Both these new items feature the most typically British hair colour - Brown. Funnily, though many people are having their hair coloured in all sorts of wacky shades and hues, when it comes to wearing a wig, most people select one nearest to their own hair colour. When it comes to hairpieces and extensions, it is usually the same though occasionally the temptation is to go for something really wild like pink or electric blue!

As the range of wigs, hairpieces & extensions grows, it will probably be sensible to make categories of short, medium and long styles, but for now it is quite nice to have them all in one place. Another thing that in time will grow is the variations of styles for mens wigs, Guys Stuff as we call it.

Another wig order has just been delivered - again some exciting new colours and another womens short wigs style. Watch this space for more news and pictures and visit the site now! www.wearmyhair.com

Wigs - a new order just in!

A new order of great short wigs has just arrived! These styles have been chosen to add to the range as we have found that a significant number of our female customers prefer short 'everyday' styles. We also have some new hairpieces in a lovely light red colour. They are all 20" long so that they can be cut to suit.

Having given a brief talk about wearmyhair at a womens' group not long ago, I feel confident that I am managing to get the message across, that wearing a wig is for anyone and everyone who is not happy with their own hair. I have a new customer whose husband heads up (excuse the pun!) an architects firm, and she now feels that she will significantly enhance her confidence by wearing a wig. In her case, she does not have cancer or alopaecia, she simply has hair that refuses to be styled in the sophisticated way she would like. For her then, a wig is ideal. Wear it at work or functions etc, take it off at home. Another happy customer!

A temporary disappointment

Hello everybody, I have to report a disappointing result from a fairly new supplier. My most recent order has arrived but without the blonde products. I have beautiful new hairpieces in gorgeous light red, colour #30 and lovely new guys/unisex wigs in mid-brown, colour #10. I will rush to get the blonde products from another supplier. Well, these things happen. There are loads of styles and colours on the site and I will soon have fresh supplies from another supplier. They are already on their way...

Moving on, here is a picture of the latest hairpiece. 20" long with draw-string and mini comb fixings, it is gorgeous!

Time to go shopping! www.wearmyhair.com

New order from Far East

A new order of "Guys Stuff" is on it's way from the Far East. Sticking to the same styles for now, the new order adds extra colours. Now there will be a blonde and a mid-brown.

Also coming soon with this order is a new blonde hairpiece in 20" length.

Still on order is a cute little short bob for women and girls. Jodie, here she is, will be available in colours, 12, 43, 130 & 389. Look up these great colours on the colour chart www.wearmyhair.com/colour_selection.php
These new wigs will be ready in about 10 days and I will update this blog when they arrive.

Exciting changes to website!

I have recently made a number of useful changes to my website www.wearmyhair.com.
First of all, the layout of the homepage has changed and is now organised as columns which means that whatever size screen a viewer has, they will be able to see everything and will only need to scroll down for all the details. Previously, the 'featured range', the first three pictures of wigs were at the bottom of the page which meant that they were not immediatly visible to all visitors to the site.

I have now incorporated the Twitter widget to the top left column making it easier to follow me on Twitter. Various banners with changing content are also on the left column. The featured range is now on the right column, tempting visitors to scroll down to see them all.

I have also re-done the pictures of the Guys Stuff. Now the pictures are much better presented with a bright but non-reflective background.

The 'coming soon' area mentions that next is videos. Yup, to show putting on a wig, trimming a wig, styling a wig and everything else people want support with before they buy a wig. Not everyone can come to my home and as I dont have a shop, it is necessary to provide this support by video and audio clips.

I will be working on this next week!

Changes to website.

I have made some exciting changes to the website www.wearmyhair.com. The homepage is now better and easier to navigate as the text and pictures and banners are set out in columns. This means that whatever screen size a viewer uses, they will be able to see the content at a glance and will only have to scroll down to view all of it. Before, the 'featured range' of wigs was at the bottom of the page meaning that it was probably often missed altogether.

Also, the Guys Stuff pictures have been redone with a brighter and less reflective background, which is a big improvement.

The Twitter widget is at the top of the homepage in the left column, again, making navigation better and easier.

Hair Salons

Today I toured round the hair salons in Cambridge, giving out special wear my hair cards that had text and images relevant to them. What I was suggesting to the salons is that when/if they get clients coming in with Alopecia or maybe hairloss from chemotherapy and asking about wigs, they can respond positively.

I can supply them with beautiful, hand painted mannequins and they can also buy one or two wigs and then they have a beautiful display which automatically informs clients that they can supply wigs to them.

I buy in bulk for my business, and all the products and colours are on the website, www.wearmyhair.com so they can buy for the salon direct from me or get the client to choose what they want from my website and bring it in for a fitting or whatever. So much better than turning the customer away!

Everybody wins! If you are a salon owner anyway, click on the link above and choose not to disappoint your customers! I know this makes sense because customers have told me that they have asked at their hairdresser and been told no, they don't have wigs. Change that fast!!!

Mannequins now back on the site!

Sorry folks! In case you noticed, the mannequins were missing from my site, www.wearmyhair.com. They are now up on the site and are a useful thing to hang your wig on at the end of the day. Of course, you can always buy one of the cute little bags which are also on the accessories page. They are ideal for storage and travel, and have a velcro fastening that will not snag the hair.

New products on www.wearmyhair.com

Cute little bags are now available to buy on the site, www.wearmyhair.com. They are good for storage and travel and the closure is with special velcro that doesn't snag the hair. They are funky and cool and made out of re-cycled pvc.

The Guys Stuff is selling already and I am just thrilled. I am thinking of altering the images to make them stand out more but I dont want them to be feminised so I have to balance quite carefully. I used a very bland backdrop for the photos in the hope that it would make them stand out, but it looks rather grey, kind of black and white tv look, which is not great. Also, the dark brown looks too similar to the almost black and I might be able to improve on that.

Hope to get some followers and some feedback soon.....please

How annoying is that! Today's Times Magazine has an article about hairloss and doesn't even mention wearing a wig as a solution. Well, it isn't really a solution is it, but then neither is wearing a turban or many other "solutions" that may work for some and may not for others.

Truth is, there is no real solution until the unlucky individual recovers. And, may I make that point here and now! I wish every single hairloss sufferer and speedy and full recovery. But, until that time, one very helpful possibility is a wig from http://www.wearmyhair.com. Visit the site now and you will find a great selection of wigs for gals and guys and some styles are quite unisex so have a good old browse and you are sure to find something suitable and something that will make you feel tons better.

If you don't, I want to hear from you and as soon as possible so that I can put that right straight away. I am very confident you will easily find something that will be just perfect.

for when Twitter is not enough!

Hello everybody. I am Joanna Holding and I run a fab webshop at www.wearmyhair.com. We sell wigs, hairpieces and extensions plus appropriate accessories. Designed with all those in mind who either dislike their own hair at all times, or have temporary issues with it.

Well, let me tell you right now that you no longer need to stress about it. Why not just get a wig and get a life. You can have whatever colour and style you like and you can just put it on like a hat and take it off at night.

No need to mess with anything else - it will almost certainly cost you a fortune and will not be anything like so easy. Wearing a wig might seem drastic, but it couldn't be simpler. In fact, there is nothing wrong with my hair except that I just dont like it, so I wear a wig nearly all the time, and I just love it. I can have long or short or somewhere in between and I trim the fringe when I feel it is a bit too long. It's great. It makes me feel in control.

To be truthful, my hair is quite difficult. It is extremely thick and quite wavy and it sits on my head like a hedge and I really hate it. Oh, and yes, I have done every straightening method known to man, including the Japanese Yuko method. Wow, that was expensive! About £300 for a cut, a colour and the straightening which lasted about 4 months even though they (the salon) claim it lasts for 6 months. The first time was quite good and I was pleased, but thereafter they used trainees and the results were nowhere near as good and they burnt my head!

I haven't looked back since I decided to buy my first wig and so I have created my own business to help provide a solution for others.

This week we have just launched our Guys Stuff pages. Really cool styles for guys who are very neglected in this field but often have just the same issues as women. The styles on the Guys Stuff pages are quite unisex really in that for women who want short layered styles, this range fits that bill.

Have a look at the site http://www.wearmyhair.com and post your comments please!
